You cannot use a local metadata cleaner to directly remove an AI Info label from an Instagram post that is already online. You can inspect the original photo, understand the signals it carries and review the controls Instagram makes available for that post.
The phrase “remove AI Info on Instagram” covers several different problems. A label on a single image, a disclosure you selected and a label on your profile need different checks.
Why edited photos can receive an AI label
A real photograph can pass through an AI-assisted editing tool. Its export may carry a record of that work even when most of the picture is unchanged. A metadata finding describes recorded provenance; it does not establish how much of the visible picture was generated.
Meta's labeling explanation says it uses industry signals and disclosures. Its September 2024 update moved information about detected AI edits into the post menu. The wording and placement you see may vary, so open the label or post information before assuming what it means.
Check an existing Instagram post
- Record the exact label and whether it belongs to the post or your profile.
- Open the post's available information and editing controls. Check whether you selected an AI disclosure when publishing.
- If a disclosure was selected by mistake, review any correction control the app actually offers. Do not assume it can override an automatic label.
- If the label seems incorrect, use Instagram's available reporting or support controls and keep the original image as context.
Changing a file on your device does not replace the uploaded copy. Deleting and reposting also loses the original post's interactions and provides no guarantee of a different label.
Inspect the photo before a future upload
Keep the original, then select Images in the local file cleaner. Inspect your supported export and review the individual findings. The image inspection walkthrough explains this process.
If you choose to clean detected portable records, download the verified output. Verification means the selected supported records were absent on reinspection. It does not guarantee that Instagram will omit a label or that disclosure is unnecessary.

Is an AI Info label embarrassing or proof that my photo is fake?
The label alone does not tell viewers the scale of an edit. If context matters, explain the actual change in your caption, such as removing an object from your own photograph. Avoid claiming a file is untouched if it was edited.
